Quick google search reveals that the average earnings of a Personal Trainer in UK is £17,079. So if we break that down to a net monthly income (after tax) of just over £1,000.
You could earn the same working in Mcdonalds (no offence). Is this what those entering the industry envisaged for themselves.
When they were spending thousands of pounds on their level 2 and 3 qualifications, was it to be earning this sort of money?
I remember when I started in the industry (not that long ago) and was speaking to an ‘ex’ PT. He said that he got out of the industry because you couldn’t make a decent living out of it. He also added that most of his PT friends were flat broke.
I was also speaking to a friend of mine from school that had been in the army for 15 years and then come back to work in Virgin Gym as a PT. He said that his earning the previous month were £147!!
I didn’t let this put me off though and instead I chose to accept a different outcome. 18 months later I have managed to start a small PT company that is now turning over £11,000 per month. And I had no industry experience!
The reason that I say this, is that with the right mindset and more importantly system to follow this is achievable for any Personal Trainer out there.
All I did was invest in myself and learn off people that were already doing and earning what I wanted. So I modelled them. I recognised that with no industry experience I needed to fast track my learning.
When you look at the impact that a quality trainer has on people’s life, I’m amazed that the average earnings are not more than this. We quite literally change people’s lives for the better.
